How To Fix The Bugcode_ID_Driver Error

Reader Question:
“Hi Wally, An error bugging been bothering me for a few days. It restarts the computer sometimes and I don’t know whats causing it. The error message reads: Bugcode_id_Driver!“ - Brandon P., United Kingdom

Before addressing any computer issue, I always recommend scanning and repairing any underlying problems affecting your PC health and performance:

  • Step 1 : Download PC Repair & Optimizer Tool (WinThruster for Win 10, 8, 7, Vista, XP and 2000 – Microsoft Gold Certified).
  • Step 2 : Click “Start Scan” to find Windows registry issues that could be causing PC problems.
  • Step 3 : Click “Repair All” to fix all issues.

Setting up weekly (or daily) automatic scans will help prevent system problems and keep your PC running fast and trouble-free.

Wally’s Answer: The Bugcode_id_Driver error can appear when Windows is getting ready to start. This error and other similar blue screen errors can be a bit confusing at first, but these problems can often be fixed by following a few simple steps.

Problem

The Bugcode_id_Driver or STOP 0x000000D2 error appears on a blue screen when the computer starts booting Windows, and the computer restarts.

Cause

The Bugcode_id_Driver error is caused by the failure of the NDIS device driver. It is also caused by application software and network hardware. Other reasons include:

  • BIOS incompatibility issues
  • IRQ conflict issues

Solution

Here are some ways to fix the Bugcode_id_Driver error:

Start The Computer In Safe Mode

If the computer won’t load Windows normally at all then you should try starting Windows in safe mode. Safe mode loads the minimum drivers needed to start Windows. If the computer starts in Safe Mode than you can be sure that the problem is caused by an application or driver. Safe Mode gives you a chance to install and uninstall software as well as device drivers.

Try Using System Restore

System restore is a feature that allows you to reset Windows to the way it was in the past. This can undo changes that caused the computer to crash. Click here to learn more about how to use system restore.

Update Device Drivers To Fix The Bugcode_id_Driver Error

This and most other blue screen errors are caused by problems with a device driver. The device driver in question might have malfunctioned due to a corrupt file or outdated device driver. You can solve this problem by updating device drivers by installing new versions of them.

You can manually search through the manufacturer’s website and find the right device driver from there. You should be able to find the latest versions of all drivers installed on your computer on the manufacturer’s website.

Just make sure to download the one that matches your version of Windows. Windows 7 drivers may also work on Windows 8 unless a Windows 8 driver is also available.  When installing the drivers, make sure to restart the computer when prompted to.

An easier way to update drivers is by using a driver update utility like DriverDoc. Utility software like this can help you save time and effort.

Is Your PC Healthy?

I always recommend to my readers to regularly use a trusted registry cleaner and optimizer such as WinThruster or CCleaner. Many problems that you encounter can be attributed to a corrupt and bloated registry.

Happy Computing! :)
