“Hi Wally, I am having problems with Dell Computer and wondering how to fix it?” - Andrew N., USA
Before addressing any computer issue, I always recommend scanning and repairing any underlying problems affecting your PC health and performance:
- Step 1 : Download PC Repair & Optimizer Tool (WinThruster for Win 10, 8, 7, Vista, XP and 2000 – Microsoft Gold Certified).
- Step 2 : Click “Start Scan” to find Windows registry issues that could be causing PC problems.
- Step 3 : Click “Repair All” to fix all issues.
Setting up weekly (or daily) automatic scans will help prevent system problems and keep your PC running fast and trouble-free.

Overview of Your Dell Computer
Dell’s desktop and laptop computers are a popular choice for people and businesses around the world. Dell was founded in 1984 in Austin Texas, where the company is still headquartered. The company is named after Michael Dell, who founded the company and remains a key person in the organization.
Today, Michael Dell is the company’s chairman and CEO. Dell makes a lot of computer-related products, but they are most well known for its desktop and laptop computers. They make computers designed for a variety of tasks including business, casual entertainment, and serious gaming.
Dell works with a variety of vendors to obtain high-quality components in each of their desktop and laptop computer lines. The popular Alienware computer company is a subsidiary of Dell. Alienware specializes in making high-end computers for gaming.
Dell is currently the third-largest personal computer manufacturer in the world. They have contracts with governments and several Fortune 500 companies to provide computers and laptops. Dell offers 24/7 support plans for all of its desktop and laptop computers.
What Problems are Associated with Your Dell Computer?
Computers are complex machines and like all computers, Dell desktops and laptops are not without their problems.
One error that Dell desktops seem to experience more than other brands occurs during startup. Instead of seeing the normal Windows startup screen, the user is presented with a black screen that requires the user to choose between continuing with normal star-up, starting in safe mode, or using the last known good configuration.
No matter which option is chosen, the computer produces a blue screen error stating the problem as, “UNMOUNTABLE_BOOT_VOLUME.” This can mean there is a bad connection between the mainboard and the hard-drive or that the file necessary to start Windows has become unstable.
Dell laptops can experience a unique issue when they are plugged in for charging. The icon next to the digital clock that indicates the laptop is plugged into an electrical outlet appears, but the laptop will not charge the battery. Often this is because the charger has been damaged.
Sometimes the software that controls the laptop’s charging behavior gets corrupted and it does not allow the battery to be charged. In some cases, the connection between the mainboard and the charger can be damaged; this usually is the result of the laptop falling or being pulled too far when the charger is plugged in.

Is Your PC Healthy?
I always recommend to my readers to regularly use a trusted registry cleaner and optimizer such as WinThruster or CCleaner. Many problems that you encounter can be attributed to a corrupt and bloated registry.
Happy Computing!
