Computer Viruses Troubleshooting
Reader Question:
“Hi Wally, I am having problems with Computer Viruses and wondering how to fix it?“ - Samuel Y., New Zealand
Before addressing any computer issue, I always recommend scanning and repairing any underlying problems affecting your PC health and performance:
- Step 1 : Download PC Repair & Optimizer Tool (WinThruster for Win 10, 8, 7, Vista, XP and 2000 – Microsoft Gold Certified).
- Step 2 : Click “Start Scan” to find Windows registry issues that could be causing PC problems.
- Step 3 : Click “Repair All” to fix all issues.
Setting up weekly (or daily) automatic scans will help prevent system problems and keep your PC running fast and trouble-free.
Wally’s Answer:
Overview of Computer Viruses
Computer viruses can stop your computer in its tracks, just as a virus can affect human beings. When you have a computer virus, it may be something that you do not even realize for a while, until it begins to cause issues with computer performance.
A computer virus does not just occur, however. It can be attributed to a person who makes the virus, whether it is a Trojan worm, spyware, malware, and other data viruses, and then releases the virus to do damage to other people’s computers and websites.
Downloading from the Internet or opening an email can set the virus into effect and cause it to begin doing damage to your computer. Someone whose goal is to do damage to your computer and/or use your files, such as your address book, etc., creates this virus and puts it in places where people are sure to pick it up.
That is what virus checker programs are for, but even they have a hard time keeping up with the many different viruses developed, which is why you want to be sure to update regularly.
What Problems are Associated with Computer Viruses?
Computer issues that can occur due to having a computer virus include a slower loading time or response time, errors while doing normal everyday tasks, freezing, shutdowns, and crashes.
The problems can actually range from the very minor to the major, and you may not even realize that your computer has picked up a virus for a while, as it can worsen as it stays on your computer.
A computer virus can also take over your email program, send emails out to your address book, and send them the virus. Some of the computer virus types have the ability to self-modify and self-replicate your system as well, which can cause even more issues.
A computer virus can also corrupt or delete files that are on your computer, which can cause the files to not work as they were designed to.
Booting issues are another symptom of a computer virus. This means that your system may suddenly start rebooting when you have not done anything to merit it. A computer virus can be difficult to remove as well.

Is Your PC Healthy?
I always recommend to my readers to regularly use a trusted registry cleaner and optimizer such as WinThruster or CCleaner. Many problems that you encounter can be attributed to a corrupt and bloated registry.
Happy Computing!
